Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, 4:00 pm
Tickets: $35
Two comic, one-act operas: Mozart’s The Impresario, set to a German libretto
by Gottlieb Stephanie, is about an impresario’s struggles in dealing with
a troupe of performers, including two feisty divas as they vie for attention
and top billing in a display of vocal fireworks. Dicapo’s production will
feature a new book by Michael Capasso and Bill Van Horn. The Music Shop, based
on a short story by Anton Chekhov, was given its New York Premiere by Dicapo
in 1997. The story of a bumbling husband—with help from the music shop
owner and his assistant—tries to remember the name of a song his domineering
wife ordered him to buy.
